The Volkswagen brand is uncharacteristically quiet ahead of the Geneva motor show. What might it be planning to unveil at the event?
I've just given our list of world premiere vehicles its third update for today before signing off from the keyboard for this week. The GTI version of the Golf Cabrio, as well as the Hyundai i20 facelift, Renault Zoe and the SEAT Toledo Prototype, were all new additions.
The 2011 edition of the Geneva show saw VW pulling the covers off the Bulli concept so who knows what surprise it might spring this year. There's certainly a lot of new product due, though apart from a mid-life update for the Scirocco that should be launched during 2012, the two big ones might not now appear until 2013 (Golf & Passat). Incidentally, the new Audi A3 will be at Geneva and it brings with it the first application of the MQB platform that these two new VWs will also use.
Don't forget about project VW019 either, the so-called 1-litre/100km city car, as well as the Phaeton replacement (VW511) - I'm expecting both of these in 2013.
